A few word from Jodie herself about her photography journey
“I remember when I so desperately wanted to get into photography, I felt I had a flare for it but didn’t have the time for a 2 year diploma or degree. I spent alot of money on courses and workshops, I think I went to three in total one of them even costing over £1000 for an intensive course and I came away feeling ripped of and learning nothing but a bunch of technical jargon!
The courses were in a classroom with quite a few people they were non personal, no one-on-one time and had no where near enough time to ask all the tonnes of questions I was dying to ask.
I remember thinking “aperture shutter speed f stops focus composition what??” It was like learning a new language, there were all these numbers and calculations, it actually put me off! I aksed myself “Who am I kidding thinking i could be a photographer?” i felt this was all way over my head and my dream took a back seat.
A short while after, I went travelling with my camera in tow and I started taking pictures for fun, under no pressure, just as a hobby and I re-ignited my passion. I gradually found my way round the camera and a way of learning from scratch that worked. So when I got back to the UK I started reading into it again, looking online, watching online tutorials and sitting in Jessops all day drilling the poor staff until eventually it all started to click into place.
Photography has been amazing for me, It has given me a wonderful hobby and opened so many doors for other things awell as I now have a career that I enjoy so much.
